Do you accept health insurance?Yes, we are in network with Anthem BC/BS. If you have an insurance policy that we are not currently paneled with, you may use your out-of-network benefits or self-pay for services. If we do not accept your insurance, then please know that we can provide you with an itemized billing that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits. Mental health services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please be aware that due to the increased complexity of health insurance, you are highly encouraged to call your insurance company prior to your initial appointment to fully clarify all important components related to financial responsibilities and fees.

Do you offer Teletherapy?Yes, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to offer HIPAA compliant video sessions as an option for those patients who teletherapy was deemed to be appropriate. Teletherapy is still an option, when appropriate. You will need access to working wifi and a smart phone/computer in order to successfully engage in teletherapy sessions. You will also need access to a safe, private, and quiet space to conduct the session(s). Ideally the place you choose will offer you confidentiality, and the comfort to speak openly and freely, without the fear of others “overhearing.” Having teletherapy appointments in an open space (e.g. in a coffee shop, public space, etc.) or while in a moving vehicle is prohibited. Please contact info@gatewaypsychological for more information.

I am separated/divorced from my child’s other parent and am interested in having my child evaluated or participate in therapy. Does this impact the therapeutic or assessment process? In the case of divorced families, Dr. Galford recommends that both parents sign the consent for testing and/or therapeutic services and a copy of the divorce decree be provided. If one parent has sole medical and educational decision-making rights, Dr. Galford will need a copy of the court order. Whenever possible, Dr. Galford will seek to involve both parents in the evaluation and/or therapeutic process.

How do I explain the testing process to my young child? For young children, you may describe the testing process in a variation of the following (modifying it to use your own words and to fit the developmental age of your child): “On Monday, we are taking you to see someone who is going to help us understand more about how you learn. You will do a lot of different activities with Dr. Galford where some of them will be more like games, and some will be more like the things you do in school, like reading, writing and math. It’s going to be fun, and you’ll get to show Dr. Galford what a hard worker you are and how much you’ve learned.”
